What's important for us...

A NPO food bank exists to fight hunger and food insecurity in the community. In simple terms, this is what we do:

Collect food – from supermarkets, farmers, manufacturers, restaurants, and individual donors (often surplus or rescued food that would otherwise go to waste).

Store and manage food safely – sorting, checking expiry dates, and storing food according to health and safety standards.

Distribute food – to people in need directly, or through partner organisations like shelters, soup kitchens, schools, and community centres.

Support vulnerable groups – families, children, the elderly, unemployed individuals, and people affected by crises.

Reduce food waste – by rescuing edible food and redirecting it to those who need it most.

Mobilise volunteers – to help with packing, sorting, logistics, and outreach.

Raise funds and awareness – to keep operations running and educate the public about hunger and nutrition.

Build community partnerships – working with NGOs, businesses, faith-based groups, and local government.

Monitor impact – tracking meals distributed and ensuring fairness, dignity, and accountability.

If you want, I can help you turn this into:

        a mission statement

        a proposal or funding application

        a website or brochure description

or something more localised to South Africa
